domain email importance

i’ve just seen it today. a client instructed us to change his email address on his business cards (BCDs) because he switched internet access services from comcast to verizon. yes, he has user@comcast.net as his email address. now he’ll have to inform everyone that he changed his email address and all the confusion and double servicing that goes along with that. if the client has a domain name (as i instructed for him to do last year before we printed his BCDs) then we would not be changing the email address and reprinting BCDs. hum, $25/yr for a domain name as opposed to approx. $80/yr for BCDs.

email signatures

email signatures are a very important marketing tool. email signatures can be added at the end of every email that’s sent. signatures allow the user to template (say you will) the things that the user uses over and over all the time. if the user starts out every email address with hello and end it with sincerely yours. instead of typing that out everytime…use the signature to enter that information everytime the user sends an email. now the most important reason for using a signature is to have name, company contact information or personal contact information at the end of every email. this way the user is marketing the brand. it’s another reminder of what the user does and also sometimes the receiver wants to call or snailmail the sender and the contact information is readily available rather than having to look it up. to set up a signature in most all email software applications including outlook…go to the drop down menu “tools” select “options” then select the “signatures” tab. there you can figure out what to do next. if not, seek professional help.

domain importance

everyone should have a domain. everytime someone sends an aol email, who gets recognition? aol. because the receiver sees aol. that’s branding for aol. that’s why aol is not conductive to business. because they don’t allow users to use their internet access service and send emails using a domain name email address. it’s almost just like any other service…we see emails from comcast.net, verizon.net, earthlink.net. you can use their internet access service but you have the choice of using a domain name to send and reply emails. but if you use the internet access service company’s email address, who are you advertising for? who’s brand are you building? oh, hey bob, oh hey betty, oh hey john is using comcast.net as their internet access service provider…comcast must be a great service provider so i should use them.

as i said before in “yahoo is a better deal” post. coupling yahoo plus with a domain is a powerful marketing tool. everytime an email is sent and replied with a domain email address it’s marketing the brand.

yahoo offers the best deal

howdy folks. i’m writing today to let you in on why i think yahoo is best for me and should be for you. even though i have not researched all there is to know about communicating on the internet. i figure i could waste alot of time researching and comparing when i should just go with one service until a better one comes along.

yahoo is cool. i use yahoo for my email, alerts and stock research. it’s free…but the better service is “yahoo plus” and its only 19.99 for 1 year…that’s a great deal to be able to call my email up on any computer worldwide and respond with my email domain name plus the other services they offer.

one hang up with getting an online service such as yahoomail (webmail) was receiving and managing my email. i had always wanted my emails downloaded to my computer because i felt that they are mine and i want to keep them on my computer for safe keeping.

but that all changed when i found that yahoo allows me to archive my emails. woolah, finding that out changed my worst hang up about webmail. so now i do all of my emailing through yahoomail (now that you know that i’ll have to re-encrypt my password on a monthly basis…but that’s another topic) and archive my emails on a monthly basis to keep my email box clean and backed up on my machine (machine=computer).

other items i use yahoo for (that can be sent to me via computer, cell phone, pda or other devices) are
-if i’m out of town or out of the country i can receive all of my emails (or emails from a selected email address) on my cell phone, pda or other devices just by changing the settings in my account.
-alerts. to alert me of a missing child in my home zip code and business zip code
yahoo has many alerts like terrorist alerts, breaking news, games, health news, traffic, weather, stock report alerts to name a few.
-i also have yahoo to alert me when my stocks are rising or falling so i can keep up with my investments.

i think you should try out yahoo for your internet communications needs…try it for free first, then if you like it, upgrade. the main thing i get with the upgrade is to be able to reply to an email with my domain email address slgd.com not the from: (that’s another topic as well).

but remember if your not an internet pro like me consult one first before making your decision. you’ll be glad ya did.
yea, i know “internet pro like me” does sound alittle arrogant but it’s true…i’ve been in the biz for over 10 years.

me

hello world,

about me. i’ve been an artist all of my life. my first drawing was when i was 3. i’ve always loved art. i entered my work in every school art show. was asked to design for others. i went to a private catholic school and they only offered art 1 & 2. i took art 2 three times. then i talked to the principal of the public school if i could take art 4 after i got out of my last class for the day. he said yes, so i walked about 3 city blocks to the public school to take art 4 my senior year of high school. then i went off to college where i studied art and earned a bachelor of fine arts degree in commercial design with a print making minor…ya know i had to make a living somehow…with this thing called art. looking back, i spent most of my days and nights in the art department creating…i couldn’t get enough of it. i always hassled campus security to let me in the building on the weekends and late nights. sometimes i slept on a couch in the teachers lounge and drank their coffee. i would tend to my printmaking tools and materials making things all the time. i was always ahead of everyone in the class with my class work. i would beg the teach to give me the next assignment. sometimes i would be 3 assignments ahead of everyone before they made me stop and wait for everyone else to catch up. i would wander into other class and help the lower classman on their work. i love creating. also i would throw pots on the wheel in the ceramics dept. i would wear the same jeans for days because of the clay buildup on the thighs of my jeans…the sign of a true potter. sometimes i would have to stop throwing because my back would hurt. i spent most of my days, nights, weekends there as well. well enough writing for now…stay tuned for the next stage of
